Over the past three years the Hip Hop Caucus has been successfully bridging the gap between our communities and the green movement. One Planet. One Voice. is our new global green campaign. We seek to empower young people in the U.S. to contribute to international green initiatives, as well as create safer, stronger communities at home.

KICK OFF CAMPUS SPEAK-OUTS
January – March 2011
“Speak-Out” events kicked off the One Planet. One Voice. campaign at Historically Black Colleges and Universities in North Carolina. The Speak-Outs captured the perspectives and voices of students and helped us build into the infrastructure of the campaign the leadership of young people on campuses and in communities.

Discovery Network Documentary Special2011
A one hour documentary special produced by the Discovery Network profiling the efforts of Rev Yearwood, President and CEO of the Hip Hop Caucus, to get more people of color involved in the solutions to climate change, will air in April 2011 to an audience of 60 million homes.

One Planet. One Voice. HBCU OrganizingMay – September 2011
One Planet. One Voice. “Speak-Outs” will mobilize and energize thousands of Hip Hop Caucus supporters on Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and surrounding communities. Our goal is to engage communities in dialogue about transforming the urban environment into greener communities. “Speak-Outs” will take place in Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, and Virgin Islands.

The One Planet. One Voice. Tour will create national visibility for the grassroots movement that we are building with the One Planet. One Voice. campaign. Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, and Virgin Islands.

United Nations Climate Negotiations, Durban, South AfricaDECEMBER 2011
One Planet. One Voice. will contribute to a global strategy for climate change solutions. Nations signed onto the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change meet annually to further international principles and mechanisms that reduce greenhouse gas emissions. We will involve young people in the U.S. in these critical negotiations, which will take place in South Africa in 2011.
